Hasan Habib was born in Pakistan and lived there all of his childhood. Hasan was the U14 National Tennis Champion in Pakistan and was an outstanding player who could have most likely played professionally if he has wanted to do that. At the age of eighteen years old Habib moved to the United States so that he could study at the University of Redlands. After finishing his education Hasan opened up a video store business which went nationwide quickly, but he ended up closing down the business after some years.

In 1985 Hasan started focusing on poker with the money he had accumulated and played in many of the biggest cash games throughout the USA. It wasn’t until 1998 that Habib decided to start playing on the tournament circuit so he already had over a decade of experience playing in cash games. Hasan has been able to win one WSOP bracelet in his career which didn’t come until 2004 when he won the $1500 Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo Event. Hasan has had a couple other notable WSOP finishes we should mention as well including a second place finish at the 2000 $2500 Omaha Hi/Lo and a fourth place finish at the 2000 WSOP Main Event. The fourth place finish is the highest finish Habib has been able to achieve in the Main Event at the WSOP.

The World Poker Tour has been close to the same of the PKR.com WSOP for Hasan. He hasn’t won any WPT titles, but came close numerous times including a second place finish at the $25,000 WPT Championship where he won just under $1.5 million for his efforts. The following year Habib was trying to improve upon his second place finish at the massive $25,000 WPT Championships, but he was knocked out in third place. The winner of the event was Tuan Le and Hasan actually had a stake on the player which means that Hasan won a percentage of the winnings that Tuan Le earned for winning. Many of the people who watched the event take place thought that Hasan and Tuan didn’t really battle much and most people assumed it was because of the stake. Hasan went on to say that the stake had nothing to do with how he played and the entire time he was trying to win the event.

Hasan has won one WSOP bracelet in his career and finished in the money a total of fourteen times in the WSOP. The WPT hasn’t been as nice to Hasan as the WSOP has and he has only two final table appearances and seven money finishes on the circuit. As of 2009 Hasan Habib has won just less than $5 million and I’m sure within the next year or two he will have broken the $5 million barrier. Hasan currently resides in Downey, California and spends a lot less time at the poker tables nowadays although he still likes to travel and play in the major events as well as the large cash games he can find around the world.
